Theodore Ralli, son of Jacob (Théodore Jacques Ralli(s)) was born in Istanbul (Turkey) in 1852 and died in London (England) in 1909. He studied painting in Paris (France). He travelled to Greece and the Middle East, painting themes inspired from those areas and dividing his life between Paris and Cairo.

Andreas D. Reiser (Munich, Germany 1840 – Helouan, Egypt 1898) was a German photographer, initially working in Romania and then, in 1884, settling in Egypt where he lived until his death. He owned photo shops in Alexandria and in Cairo. After his death and until 1914, his son Lucien took over the business in Alexandria, together with Anton Binder.

Apkar Retian, an Armenian, was one of the most important photographers in Egypt during the first half of the 20th century. He was active from the 1920s to the 1960s; during this time, he was very productive and he managed to establish himself as an artist photographer. He studied next to Aram Alban, later (by the mid-1920s) taking over his photographic studio and preserving the old name till the early 1940s.

Ioannis (John) Rodocanachi was born in Alexandria (Egypt) in 1866. His father, Pandias M. Rodocanachi, was active in the trading business, and his mother Kleopatra, came from the Synadinos family. He himself was a friend of C. P. Cavafy, but left Alexandria at a young age to settle in Liverpool (England), where he finished his studies and started working.

Theodoros Rodocanachi was born in Liverpool (England) in 1871. His father was Konstantinos Rodocanachi and his mother was Argyro Sechiari. In 1923 he married Eleni Polymeri. He died in Alexandria (Egypt), where he had made his home, in 1947.
