History
The Cercle Artistque was an Art Salon founded in Cairo (27 Madabegh Street) in the late 19th century. It was presided by an old inhabitant of the city, the Italian ophthalmologist Onofrio Abbate Pasha. Artistic exhibitions were held annually during Ramadan. The first such exhibition to be mentioned in the local press dates to 1896.
