Typewritten note that includes a quote in French from Plato's Statesman. The quote serves as an epigram for the poem "Betrayal" ("Déloyauté"). (The same quote, in the original, written by Cavafy and destined for the same poem, is correctly referred to as a quote from Plato's Republic).

Handwritten letter by Helmut von den Steinen to Rica Singopoulo on one side of a sheet . Blank verso. The sender briefly comments on Cavafy's work as well as on the German translations of selected poems, which he did himself. The letter is not dated. However, on the basis of the context and his previous letter, it should be dated to 1938. (Athens)
