Extensive commentary on the cholera epidemic that has broken out in Egypt and record of deaths due to the disease. Description of an honorary event attended by the Khedive. Reference to the matter of Cavafy's eyesight as well as to a distinction awarded to a member of his family. Cancellations; use of French and Greek words and phrases in the flow of written discourse.
