The author proposed to Cavafy the use of an encryption system, in order to protect the content of their correspondence; the letter records the alphabet with the respective cryptographic elements. He provides information about persons of their friendly circle as well as of the broader social circle of Alexandria. He comments on current events, such as the works of the Indemnity Commission and the anniversary celebration of the national independence.
