Handwritten promissory note of the Patriarchate of Jerusalem to John Cavafy, in the first page of a double-sheet. The remaining pages are blank. It is mentioned that the Patriarchate borrowed an amount of money from John Cavafy (who is most probably the poet's grandfather) in order to restore the Holy Sepulchre. The name of the Patriarch of Jeruslaem, Polycarpus, at top centre of the page; his signature below the text of the promissory note.
