They are accompanied by a piece of paperboard with the note "Les Noces Blanches", written by Cavafy. It is about the case of a scandal involving homosexuals in the atelier of the British painter Ernest Bulton, at Montparnasse, Paris. The police arrested the participants and the incident was considered a scandal. The newspapers referred to it using the title "Noces blanches" (white weddings). Cavafy follows the case through articles in the two newspapers.
