The French-language newspaper La Réforme [The Reform] of Alexandria (Egypt) was founded in 1876, initially published as a weekly newspaper until 1894. Thereafter, under the direction of Raoul Canivet, it became a daily newspaper until 1925, when it was acquired by Aziz de Saab, and circulated till 1964.

Ten issues of the French-language newspaper La Réforme of Alexandria (one of the issues is double). Only the first two pages of the first issue are preserved. Accompanied by a piece of paper with Cavafy's handwritten note "The Wardani Case". The poet is following up the trial of the Ibrahim (al-) Wardani case, who murdered the Prime Minister of Egypt, Butros Ghali, and was ultimately executed.
