Paul informs his brother, Constantine, of the trip he is making to Italy, accompanying an English family. He describes the places and landmarks he has visited; he refers to artists whose works he saw in Italy and provides information on the rest of his tour schedule. He informs the poet about the impending trip schedule as well as of the identity and the status of the family he is accompanying.
