The poet departs, together with his mother and two of his siblings, on a steamboat to Istanbul on the aftermath of the Urabi Revolt, for which young Cavafy provides a short analysis. Paul expresses his satisfaction for the conditions under which he is living and working, and comments extensively on general De Horsey himself and his acquaintances.
