          Archivist's note

The document was found placed after the letter dated 3 July 1883. Judging from the content (cholera epidemic, departure of Stephen Schilizzi for Liverpool on 11 July), it is concluded that the letter is most likely in the correct order and was possibly an addition to the previous one. In any case, the item may be dated as to the year.
