Scope and content
Homemade leather-bound volume, comprising typewritten and printed poems. On the cover, the title "Cavafy Poems" in gold letters. On the "title page" (made of a cover from the 1910 poetry collection of Cavafy) the title "C. P. Cavafy Poems" and the indication "Alexandria 1910" as well as the note "[Englished by J. C. Cavafy]", handwritten by John Cavafy below the word "Poems". On the interior of the cover, another handwritten note by John Cavafy dated "14 May 1911". It is followed by the poems, each with the printed text in Greek and the typewritten English translation. The page numbering is common for both languages. The Greek text of the poem "The City" on a page cut off from the journal Nea Zoi and that of the poem "The God Abandons Antony" on a page cut off from the journal Grammata. Four pages of contents in Greek and in English, numbered "41" and "42". The pages of contents in Greek have been cut off from a printed poetry collection. They are followed by the English translations of another five poems, without page numbering. A total of twenty-six poems have been translated. Handwritten cancellations and emendations in the typewritten poems.
